1  Now¹¹⁶¹ I say,³⁰⁰⁴ That the³⁵⁸⁸ heir,²⁸¹⁸ as long as³⁷⁴⁵ he⁽⁵⁵⁵⁰⁾ is²⁰⁷⁶ a child,³⁵¹⁶ differeth¹³⁰⁸ nothing³⁷⁶² from a servant,¹⁴⁰¹ though he be⁵⁶⁰⁷ lord²⁹⁶² of all;³⁹⁵⁶

1  내가 또 말하노니 유업을 이을 자가 모든 것의 주인이나 어렸을 동안에는 종과 다름이 없어서

1  But I say, Over so long a time the heir is an infant, he does not differ from a slave, though being lord of all;

1  이제 내가 말하노니, 그 상속자가 모든 것의 주인이지만 어린 아이일 동안은 종과 다를 바 없으며

2  But²³⁵ is²⁰⁷⁶ under⁵²⁵⁹ tutors²⁰¹² and²⁵³² governors³⁶²³ until⁸⁹¹ the³⁵⁸⁸ time appointed⁴²⁸⁷ of the³⁵⁸⁸ father.³⁹⁶²

2  그 아버지의 정한 때까지 후견인과 청지기 아래 있나니

2  but he is under guardians and housemasters until the term appointed before by the father.

2  아버지가 미리 정해 놓은 때까지 보호자와 청지기 아래 있느니라.

3  Even²⁵³² so³⁷⁷⁹ we,²²⁴⁹ when³⁷⁵³ we were²²⁵⁸ children,³⁵¹⁶ were²²⁵⁸ in bondage¹⁴⁰² under⁵²⁵⁹ the³⁵⁸⁸ elements⁴⁷⁴⁷ of the³⁵⁸⁸ world:²⁸⁸⁹

3  이와 같이 우리도 어렸을 때에 이 세상 초등 학문 아래 있어서 종노릇 하였더니

3  Even so we, when we were infants, were in bondage under the elements of the world.

3  이와 같이 우리도 어린 아이였을 때에는 세상의 초등 학문 아래서 종노릇하였으나

4  But¹¹⁶¹ when³⁷⁵³ the³⁵⁸⁸ fullness⁴¹³⁸ of the³⁵⁸⁸ time⁵⁵⁵⁰ was come,²⁰⁶⁴ God²³¹⁶ sent forth¹⁸²¹ his⁸⁴⁸ Son,⁵²⁰⁷ made¹⁰⁹⁶ of¹⁵³⁷ a woman,¹¹³⁵ made¹⁰⁹⁶ under⁵²⁵⁹ the law,³⁵⁵¹

4  때가 차매 하나님이G2316 그 아들을 보내사 여자에게서 나게 하시고 율법 아래 나게 하신 것은

4  But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, coming into being out of a woman, having come under Law,

4   그 때가 차니 하나님(엘로힘)께서 자기 아들을 보내시어 여자에게서 나게 하시고 율법 아래 나게 하신 것은

5  To²⁴⁴³ redeem¹⁸⁰⁵ them³⁵⁸⁸ that were under⁵²⁵⁹ the law,³⁵⁵¹ that²⁴⁴³ we might receive⁶¹⁸ the³⁵⁸⁸ adoption of sons.⁵²⁰⁶

5  율법 아래 있는 자들을 속량하시고 우리로 아들의 명분을 얻게 하려 하심이라

5  that He might redeem those under Law, so that we might receive the adoption of sons.

5  율법 아래 있는 자들을 구속하셔서 우리로 아들의 신분을 얻게 하려 하심이라.

6  And¹¹⁶¹ because³⁷⁵⁴ ye are²⁰⁷⁵ sons,⁵²⁰⁷ God²³¹⁶ hath sent forth¹⁸²¹ the³⁵⁸⁸ Spirit⁴¹⁵¹ of his⁸⁴⁸ Son⁵²⁰⁷ into¹⁵¹⁹ your⁵²¹⁶ hearts,²⁵⁸⁸ crying,²⁸⁹⁶ Abba,⁵ Father.³⁹⁶²

6  너희가 아들인고로 하나님이G2316 그 아들의 영을 우리 마음 가운데 보내사 아바 아버지라 부르게 하셨느니라

6  And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

6  너희가 아들들이므로 하나님(엘로힘)께서 자기 아들의 영을 너희 마음 속에 보내시어 아바, 아버지라 부르짖게 하셨느니라.

7  Wherefore⁵⁶²⁰ thou art¹⁴⁸⁸ no more³⁷⁶⁵ a servant,¹⁴⁰¹ but²³⁵ a son;⁵²⁰⁷ and¹¹⁶¹ if¹⁴⁸⁷ a son,⁵²⁰⁷ then²⁵³² an heir²⁸¹⁸ of God²³¹⁶ through¹²²³ Christ.⁵⁵⁴⁷

7  그러므로 네가 이 후로는 종이 아니요 아들이니 아들이면 하나님으로G2316 말미암아 유업을 이을 자니라

7  So that you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, also an heir of God through Christ.

7  그러므로 너는 더이상 종이 아니요 아들이니, 아들이면 그리스도(마쉬악을)를 통한 하나님(야훼)의 상속자니라.

8  Howbeit²³⁵ then,⁵¹¹⁹ when⁽³³⁰³⁾ ye knew¹⁴⁹² not³⁷⁵⁶ God,²³¹⁶ ye did service¹³⁹⁸ unto them which by nature⁵⁴⁴⁹ are⁵⁶⁰⁷ no³³⁶¹ gods.²³¹⁶

8  그러나 너희가 그 때에는 하나님을G2316 알지 못하여 본질상 하나님이G2316 아닌 자들에게 종노릇하였더니

8  But then, indeed, not knowing God, you served as slaves to those not by nature being gods.

8  그러나 그때에는 너희가 하나님(야훼)을 알지 못하여 본질상 신(엘로힘)들이 아닌 것들에게 종노릇하였더니

9  But¹¹⁶¹ now,³⁵⁶⁸ after that ye have known¹⁰⁹⁷ God,²³¹⁶ or¹¹⁶¹ rather³¹²³ are known¹⁰⁹⁷ of⁵²⁵⁹ God,²³¹⁶ how⁴⁴⁵⁹ turn¹⁹⁹⁴ ye again³⁸²⁵ to¹⁹⁰⁹ the³⁵⁸⁸ weak⁷⁷² and²⁵³² beggarly⁴⁴³⁴ elements,⁴⁷⁴⁷ whereunto³⁷³⁹ ye⁽³⁸²⁵⁾ desire²³⁰⁹ again⁵⁰⁹ to be in bondage?¹³⁹⁸

9  이제는 너희가 하나님을G2316 알뿐더러 하나님G2316의 아신바 되었거늘 어찌하여 다시 약하고 천한 초등 학문으로 돌아가서 다시 저희에게 종노릇하려 하느냐

9  But now, knowing God, but rather are known by God, how do you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements to which you again desire to slave anew?

9  이제는 너희가 하나님(야훼)을 알았고 오히려 하나님(야훼)께 알려졌는데 어찌하여 너희는 약하고 천한 초등 학문으로 다시 돌아가 거기서 다시 종노릇하기를 원하느냐?

10  Ye observe³⁹⁰⁶ days,²²⁵⁰ and²⁵³² months,³³⁷⁶ and²⁵³² times,²⁵⁴⁰ and²⁵³² years.¹⁷⁶³

10  너희가 날과 달과 절기와 해를 삼가 지키니

10  You observe days and months and times and years.

10   너희는 날과 달과 절기와 해를 지키는도다.

11  I am afraid⁵³⁹⁹ of you,⁵²⁰⁹ lest³³⁸¹ I have bestowed upon you labor^{2872, 1519, 5209} in vain.¹⁵⁰⁰

11  내가 너희를 위하여 수고한 것이 헛될까 두려워하노라

11  I fear for you, lest somehow I have labored among you in vain.

11  나는 내가 너희를 위하여 수고한 것이 헛될까 두려워하노라.

12  Brethren,⁸⁰ I beseech¹¹⁸⁹ you,⁵²¹⁶ be¹⁰⁹⁶ as⁵⁶¹³ I¹⁴⁷³ am; for³⁷⁵⁴ I²⁵⁰⁴ am as⁵⁶¹³ ye⁵²¹⁰ are: ye have not injured me at all.^{3762, 91, 3165}

12  형제들아 내가 너희와 같이 되었은즉 너희도 나와 같이 되기를 구하노라 너희가 내게 해롭게 하지 아니하였느니라

12  Brothers, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as you. You have not injured me at all.

12   형제들아, 내가 너희에게 간구하노니 너희는 나와 같이 되라. 이는 나도 너희와 같이 되었음이라. 너희가 전혀 나를 해롭게 하지 아니하였느니라.

13  Ye⁽¹¹⁶¹⁾ know¹⁴⁹² how³⁷⁵⁴ through¹²²³ infirmity⁷⁶⁹ of the³⁵⁸⁸ flesh⁴⁵⁶¹ I preached the gospel²⁰⁹⁷ unto you⁵²¹³ at the first.⁴³⁸⁶

13  내가 처음에 육체의 약함을 인하여 너희에게 복음을 전한 것을 너희가 아는바라

13  But you know that through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel to you before,

13  너희는 내가 처음에 육체의 연약함 중에도 어떻게 너희에게 복음을 전파하였는지 아느니라.

14  And²⁵³² my³⁴⁵⁰ temptation³⁹⁸⁶ which³⁵⁸⁸ was in¹⁷²² my³⁴⁵⁰ flesh⁴⁵⁶¹ ye despised¹⁸⁴⁸ not,³⁷⁵⁶ nor³⁷⁶¹ rejected;¹⁶⁰⁹ but²³⁵ received¹²⁰⁹ me³¹⁶⁵ as⁵⁶¹³ an angel³² of God,²³¹⁶ even as⁵⁶¹³ Christ⁵⁵⁴⁷ Jesus.²⁴²⁴

14  너희를 시험하는 것이 내 육체에 있으되 이것을 너희가 업신여기지도 아니하며 버리지도 아니하고 오직 나를 하나님의G2316 천사와 같이 또는 그리스도G5547 예수G2424와 같이 영접하였도다

14  and you did not despise my temptation in my flesh, nor did you spurn it. But you received me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus.

14    또 너희는 나의 육체 안에 있는 나의 시련을 무시하거나, 거절하지도 아니하였고, 오히려 하나님(야훼)의 천사같이 곧 그리스도(마쉬악) 예수(야슈아)같이 나를 영접하였도다.

15  Where⁵¹⁰¹ is²²⁵⁸ then³⁷⁶⁷ the³⁵⁸⁸ blessedness³¹⁰⁸ ye⁵²¹⁶ spake of? for¹⁰⁶³ I bear you record,^{3140, 5213} that,³⁷⁵⁴ if¹⁴⁸⁷ it had been possible,¹⁴¹⁵ ye would have plucked out^{1846, 302} your own⁵²¹⁶ eyes,³⁷⁸⁸ and have given¹³²⁵ them to me.³⁴²⁷

15  너희의 복이 지금 어디 있느냐 내가 너희에게 증거하노니 너희가 할 수만 있었더면 너희의 눈이라도 빼어 나를 주었으리라

15  What then was your blessedness? For I bear you record that, if you were able, plucking out your eyes, you would have given them to me.

15  그렇다면 너희가 말한 복이 무엇이겠느냐? 내가 너희에게 증거하노니, 너희가 할 수만 있었다면 너희의 눈이라도 빼서 내게 주었으리라.

16  Am I therefore⁵⁶²⁰ become¹⁰⁹⁶ your⁵²¹⁶ enemy,²¹⁹⁰ because I tell you the truth?^{226, 5213}

16  그런즉 내가 너희에게 참된 말을 하므로 원수가 되었느냐

16  So then did I become your enemy speaking to you the truth?

16  그러므로 내가 너희에게 진리를 말함으로써 너희의 원수가 되었느냐?

17  They zealously affect²²⁰⁶ you,⁵²⁰⁹ but not³⁷⁵⁶ well;²⁵⁷³ yea,²³⁵ they would²³⁰⁹ exclude¹⁵⁷⁶ you,⁵²⁰⁹ that²⁴⁴³ ye might affect²²⁰⁶ them.⁸⁴⁶

17  저희가 너희를 대하여 열심내는 것이 좋은 뜻이 아니요 오직 너희를 이간 붙여 너희로 저희를 대하여 열심 내게 하려 함이라

17  They are zealous for you, but not well. But they only desire to shut you out, that you be zealous to them.

17  그들이 너희에게 열성을 내는 것은 좋은 의도가 아니고, 다만 너희를 떼어내어 너희로 그들에게 열성을 내게 하려 함이니라.

18  But¹¹⁶¹ it is good²⁵⁷⁰ to be zealously affected²²⁰⁶ always³⁸⁴² in¹⁷²² a good²⁵⁷⁰ thing, and²⁵³² not³³⁶¹ only³⁴⁴⁰ when I³¹⁶⁵ am present³⁹¹⁸ with⁴³¹⁴ you.⁵²⁰⁹

18  좋은 일에 대하여 열심으로 사모함을 받음은 내가 너희를 대하였을 때뿐 아니라 언제든지 좋으니라

18  But it is good to be zealous always in a good thing, and not only in my being present with you.

18 그러나 좋은 일에 열성을 내는 것은 비단 내가 너희와 함께 있을 때뿐만 아니라 언제라도 좋은 일이라.

19  My³⁴⁵⁰ little children,⁵⁰⁴⁰ of whom³⁷³⁹ I travail in birth⁵⁶⁰⁵ again³⁸²⁵ until^{891, 3757} Christ⁽⁵⁵⁴⁷⁾ be formed³⁴⁴⁵ in¹⁷²² you,⁵²¹³

19  나의 자녀들아 너희 속에 그리스도의G5547 형상이 이루기까지 다시 너를 위하여 해산하는 수고를 하노니

19  My children, for whom I again travail until Christ should be formed in you,

19  나의 어린 자녀들아, 너희 안에 그리스도가(마쉬악께서) 형성될 때까지 내가 다시 산고를 치르노라.

20  I⁽¹¹⁶¹⁾ desire²³⁰⁹ to be present³⁹¹⁸ with⁴³¹⁴ you⁵²⁰⁹ now,⁷³⁷ and²⁵³² to change²³⁶ my³⁴⁵⁰ voice;⁵⁴⁵⁶ for³⁷⁵⁴ I stand in doubt⁶³⁹ of¹⁷²² you.⁵²¹³

20  내가 이제라도 너희와 함께 있어 내 음성을 변하려 함은 너희를 대하여 의심이 있음이라

20  even now I desired to be present with you, and to change my voice; for I am in doubt as to you.

20  내가 지금 너희와 함께 있으려 하고 또 나의 어조를 바꾸고자 함은 내가 너희에 대하여 의심이 있음이라.

21  Tell³⁰⁰⁴ me,³⁴²⁷ ye that desire²³⁰⁹ to be¹⁵¹¹ under⁵²⁵⁹ the law,³⁵⁵¹ do ye not³⁷⁵⁶ hear¹⁹¹ the³⁵⁸⁸ law?³⁵⁵¹

21  내게 말하라 율법 아래 있고자 하는 자들아 율법을 듣지 못하였느냐

21  Tell me, those desiring to be under Law, do you not hear the Law?

21  율법 아래 있고자 하는 너희는 내게 말하라. 너희가 율법을 듣지 못하였느냐?

22  For¹⁰⁶³ it is written,¹¹²⁵ that³⁷⁵⁴ Abraham¹¹ had²¹⁹² two¹⁴¹⁷ sons,⁵²⁰⁷ the one¹⁵²⁰ by¹⁵³⁷ a bondmaid,³⁸¹⁴ the⁽²⁵³²⁾ other¹⁵²⁰ by¹⁵³⁷ a freewoman.¹⁶⁵⁸

22  기록된바 아브라함이 두 아들이 있으니 하나는 계집종에게서 하나는 자유하는 여자에게서 났다 하였으나

22  For it is written: Abraham had two sons, the one out of the slave-woman, and one out of the free woman.

22  기록되기를 "아브라함에게 두 아들이 있었는데 하나는 여종에게서 났고 하나는 자유로운 여자에게서 났다."고 하였느니라.

23  But²³⁵ he^{3588, 3303} who was of¹⁵³⁷ the³⁵⁸⁸ bondwoman³⁸¹⁴ was born¹⁰⁸⁰ after²⁵⁹⁶ the flesh;⁴⁵⁶¹ but¹¹⁶¹ he³⁵⁸⁸ of¹⁵³⁷ the³⁵⁸⁸ freewoman¹⁶⁵⁸ was by¹²²³ promise.¹⁸⁶⁰

23  계집 종에게서는 육체를 따라 났고 자유하는 여자에게서는 약속으로 말미암았느니라

23  But, indeed, he out of the slave-woman has been born according to flesh, and he out of the free woman through the promise;

23  그러나 그 여종에게서 난 아들은 육신을 따라서 났고 자유로운 여자에게서 난 아들은 약속으로 말미암아 난 것이라.

24  Which things³⁷⁴⁸ are²⁰⁷⁶ an allegory:²³⁸ for¹⁰⁶³ these³⁷⁷⁸ are¹⁵²⁶ the³⁵⁸⁸ two¹⁴¹⁷ covenants;¹²⁴² the one^{3391, 3303} from⁵⁷⁵ the mount³⁷³⁵ Sinai,⁴⁶¹⁴ which engendereth¹⁰⁸⁰ to¹⁵¹⁹ bondage,¹³⁹⁷ which³⁷⁴⁸ is²⁰⁷⁶ Hagar.²⁸

24  이것은 비유니 이 여자들은 두 언약이라 하나는 시내산으로부터 종을 낳은 자니 곧 하가라

24  which things are being allegorized; for these are the two covenants, one indeed from Mount Sinai bringing forth to slavery, which is Hagar.

24  이것들은 비유니 이들은 두 언약이라. 하나는 시내 산으로부터 종을 낳은 자니 이는 하갈이라.

25  For¹⁰⁶³ this Hagar²⁸ is²⁰⁷⁶ mount³⁷³⁵ Sinai⁴⁶¹⁴ in¹⁷²² Arabia,⁶⁸⁸ and¹¹⁶¹ answereth to⁴⁹⁶⁰ Jerusalem²⁴¹⁹ which now³⁵⁶⁸ is, and¹¹⁶¹ is in bondage¹³⁹⁸ with³³²⁶ her⁸⁴⁸ children.⁵⁰⁴³

25  이 하가는 아라비아에 있는 시내산으로 지금 있는 예루살렘과 같은 데니 저가 그 자녀들로 더불어 종노릇하고

25  For Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and answers to Jerusalem which now is, and is in slavery with her children.

25 하갈은 아라비아에 있는 시내 산이니, 지금의 예루살렘과 같아서, 그녀는 자기의 자녀들과 더불어 종노릇하나,

26  But¹¹⁶¹ Jerusalem²⁴¹⁹ which is above⁵⁰⁷ is²⁰⁷⁶ free,¹⁶⁵⁸ which³⁷⁴⁸ is²⁰⁷⁶ the mother³³⁸⁴ of us²²⁵⁷ all.³⁹⁵⁶

26  오직 위에 있는 예루살렘은 자유자니 곧 우리 어머니라

26  But the Jerusalem from above is free, who is the mother of us all.

26  위에 있는 예루살렘은 자유로우니, 우리 모두의 어머니라.

27  For¹⁰⁶³ it is written,¹¹²⁵ Rejoice,²¹⁶⁵ thou barren⁴⁷²³ that bearest⁵⁰⁸⁸ not;³⁷⁵⁶ break forth⁴⁴⁸⁶ and²⁵³² cry,⁹⁹⁴ thou that travailest⁵⁶⁰⁵ not;³⁷⁵⁶ for³⁷⁵⁴ the³⁵⁸⁸ desolate²⁰⁴⁸ hath²¹⁹² many⁴¹⁸³ more³¹²³ children⁵⁰⁴³ than²²²⁸ she which hath²¹⁹² a husband.⁴³⁵

27  기록된바 잉태치 못한 자여 즐거워하라 구로치 못한 자여 소리질러 외치라 이는 홀로 사는 자의 자녀가 남편 있는 자의 자녀보다 많음이라 하였으니

27  For it is written, "Rejoice, barren one not bearing; break forth and shout, you not travailing; for more are the children of the desolate than she having the husband."

27  기록되기를 "너 잉태하지 못하는 여인아, 즐거워하라. 너 산고를 치르지 못하는 여인아, 소리질러 외치라. 이는 홀로 사는 여인의 자녀가 남편 있는 여인의 자녀보다 더 많음이라."고 하였으니

28  Now¹¹⁶¹ we,²²⁴⁹ brethren,⁸⁰ as²⁵⁹⁶ Isaac²⁴⁶⁴ was, are²⁰⁷⁰ the children⁵⁰⁴³ of promise.¹⁸⁶⁰

28  형제들아 너희는 이삭과 같이 약속의 자녀라

28  But brothers, we, like Isaac, are children of promise.

28   형제들아, 이제 우리는 이삭과 같이 약속의 자녀라.

29  But²³⁵ as⁵⁶¹⁸ then⁵¹¹⁹ he that was born¹⁰⁸⁰ after²⁵⁹⁶ the flesh⁴⁵⁶¹ persecuted¹³⁷⁷ him³⁵⁸⁸ that was born after²⁵⁹⁶ the Spirit,⁴¹⁵¹ even²⁵³² so³⁷⁷⁹ it is now.³⁵⁶⁸

29  그러나 그 때에 육체를 따라 난 자가 성령을 따라 난 자를 핍박한 것 같이 이제도 그러하도다

29  But then even as he born according to flesh persecuted him born according to the Spirit, so it is also now.

29 그런데 그때에 육신을 따라 난 자가 성령을 따라 난 자를 박해하였던 것처럼 지금도 그러하도다.

30  Nevertheless²³⁵ what⁵¹⁰¹ saith³⁰⁰⁴ the³⁵⁸⁸ Scripture?¹¹²⁴ Cast out¹⁵⁴⁴ the³⁵⁸⁸ bondwoman³⁸¹⁴ and²⁵³² her⁸⁴⁶ son:⁵²⁰⁷ for¹⁰⁶³ the³⁵⁸⁸ son⁵²⁰⁷ of the³⁵⁸⁸ bondwoman³⁸¹⁴ shall not³³⁶⁴ be heir²⁸¹⁶ with³³²⁶ the³⁵⁸⁸ son⁵²⁰⁷ of the³⁵⁸⁸ freewoman.¹⁶⁵⁸

30  그러나 성경이 무엇을 말하느뇨 계집 종과 그 아들을 내어 쫓으라 계집 종의 아들이 자유하는 여자의 아들로 더불어 유업을 얻지 못하리라 하였느니라

30  But what does the Scripture say? "Cast out the slave-woman and her son; for in no way shall the son of the slave-woman inherit with the son of the free woman."

30  그러나 성경이 무엇이라 말하느냐? "여종과 그녀의 아들을 내어쫓으라. 이는 여종의 아들이 자유로운 여자의 아들과 함께 상속을 받지 못할 것임이니라."고 하였느니라.

31  So then,⁶⁸⁶ brethren,⁸⁰ we are²⁰⁷⁰ not³⁷⁵⁶ children⁵⁰⁴³ of the bondwoman,³⁸¹⁴ but²³⁵ of the³⁵⁸⁸ free.¹⁶⁵⁸

31  그런즉 형제들아 우리는 계집 종의 자녀가 아니요 자유하는 여자의 자녀니라

31  Then, brothers, we are not children of a slave-woman, but of the free woman.

31  그러므로 형제들아, 우리는 여종의 자녀가 아니라 자유로운 여자의 자녀로다.
